Patent, Copyrights, Trademarks and Unfair Competition

Craig & Craig, LLC has traditionally handled a number of intellectual property matters such as trademarks and copyright claims for business and corporate clients for some time. In early 2000, Craig & Craig became involved in patent prosecution and patent litigation with two Patent Attorneys, Mr. John F. Watson and Mr. R. Sean Hocking. The attorneys at Craig & Craig, LLC have had successful Patent Applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and also have been involved in patent litigation in the United States District Court, Central District of Illinois. The firm regularly handles trademark applications before the Federal Trademark Office and will also become involved in copyright applications relating to music, trade art work and artistic design.

John F. Watson graduated from Bradley University with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering, making him eligible to become a patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Watson has successfully completed the bar examination for the Patent and Trademark Office and has been a registered patent attorney dating back to March of 1994. Mr. Watson has handled several patent prosecutions before the Patent and Trademark Office and has also handled a large number of other intellectual property matters including trademark, trade secrets, unfair competition and copyright matters. Litigation relating to intellectual property includes patent infringement defense, copyright defense and enforcing intellectual property rights on behalf of local businesses and corporations.

R. Sean Hocking, Member with the Mattoon office of Craig & Craig, LLC, trained as an engineer in the field of aeronautical and astronautical engineering prior to his entry into the practice of law. Mr. Hocking successfully completed the bar examination for the Patent and Trademark Office and has been a registered patent attorney since March 2000. Mr. Hocking has succeeded in obtaining the issuance of patents before the Patent and Trademark Office and has advised clients on a number of other intellectual property matters involving trade secrets, patent infringement, trademarks and copyright.
